Sunderland is gearing up for the 2024/25 campaign with an extensive pre-season schedule, consisting of seven friendly matches. The club has announced fixtures against South Shields, Gateshead, Blackpool, and Bradford City as part of their preparations.
The Black Cats will kick off their pre-season with two games in Spain during a week-long training camp, starting on July 15. Additionally, like last year, Sunderland will divide their squad to face South Shields and Gateshead simultaneously on July 13. Matches are scheduled at the 1st Cloud Arena and International Stadium.
Following their stint in Spain, Sunderland has arranged away fixtures against Blackpool on July 27 and Bradford on July 30. The club will wrap up their pre-season with a final match on the weekend of August 3, with details of the opponent and venue yet to be confirmed. Last year, Sunderland concluded their preparations with a match against La Liga club Real Mallorca.
The EFL has confirmed that Championship fixtures, including those selected for TV broadcast, will be released on June 26. The season is set to commence on the weekend of August 10, with the opening match often televised on Friday night. The final day of the season is scheduled for May 3.
