Chicago needs to keep a close eye on these two players if they want to improve their roster.
The Chicago Bulls’ outstanding December play may have subdued clamor for a roster overhaul, but this team is not close to contending for a championship. The team is prepared to let go of Zach LaVine, an All-Star, but it doesn’t seem like they will be getting a package that would allow them to start over.
In light of that, the Bulls would be wise to pursue the following two players come trade deadline:
Jones, Tyus Tyus Jones, who is averaging 12.6 points on 53 percent shooting and 5.5 assists per game with the Washington Wizards, is having a career year after being released from the shadow of starting point guard Ja Morant of Memphis. But if it means obtaining high lottery picks or a young player with a lot of potential, the Wizards are reportedly willing to part with their main point guard.
Ziaire Williams Chicago requires young players who can help usher in a new era of Bulls basketball because its core, which includes Nikola Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Dwyane Wade, is all in their 30s. Ziaire Williams of the Grizzlies might meet that requirement. The 6-foot-9 forward, who is only 22 years old, has a rare mix of size, quickness, and shooting skill.
Williams is only averaging 7.3 points on 38 percent shooting this season, so he still needs to put it all together. Williams’ usage rate appears to be falling now that Morant is back for the Grizzlies. Williams might find that a new beginning in the Windy City is the ideal way to realize his full potential.
