The most recent news about Leicester City, as Enzo Maresca is eager to add players to his roster in the January transfer window—the German center back for Wolfsburg is highly regarded.
According to German media, Chelsea is also interested in teenage defender David Odogu, for whom
has held talks with Wolfsburg.
The 17-year-old participated in every minute of every match back in November as a member of the Germany U17 team that won the 2023 World Cup. He has appeared in 11 games for Wolfburg’s U19 team this season, making him a regular.
In the current transfer window, Chelsea and City are both “interested” in signing the teenager. Although they are “early stage,” “first talks” are reportedly held with both teams, and other English clubs are reportedly interested as well.
Odogu, who was left out of the first team’s roster for the winter training camp in Portugal, is reportedly “open” to leaving Wolfsburg in January. It is believed that the German team has opted to keep him in their U19 lineup instead.
The young athlete signed a long-term contract with Wolfsburg last year, so they are in a solid position. It is unknown what kind of sum Wolfsburg would demand for the player. However, it’s reported that the player is eager to relocate to England.
If a deal closes, Odogu might be considered a player of the future. He hasn’t yet experienced German first-team football.
But, City might have an advantage over Chelsea since he would have a better chance at the King Power Stadium to break into the first team than he would have at Stamford Bridge. Like they did with Cesare Casadei, a City loanee who joined Stamford Bridge from Inter in the summer of 2022, Chelsea is renowned for snagging up Europe’s youthful talent and then sending them on loan.
