Carl Dickinson, who won Stoke City’s promotion, has been appointed as Hartlepool United’s new assistant manager.

Darren Sarll, the man Dickinson played for at Yeovil Town in the National League, has brought him in at number two. Dickinson is currently 37 years old. He played for his former Port Vale colleague Richard Duffy and helped Congleton Town win the Midland League Premier Division and Midland League Cup. He also had a successful tenure as manager of Hanley Town. He has taught in Stoke’s academy system in addition to making more than 600 appearances in his playing career.

Upon his employment, he declared himself, “Very proud to be joining the football club as part of the coaching team.” “Can’t wait to get going!”

The National League’s 12th-place team is Hartlepool. Following a record of three victories in 19 games, former Vale manager John Askey departed in late December. After taking over in January, former Stoke manager Kevin Phillips successfully led the team out of danger and into a secure mid-table finish.

Dickinson rose through Stoke’s ranks as an unafraid defender and

helped secure a spot in the 2008 Premier League.

Alongside him will be Lennie Lawrence, who works as a mentor at Hartlepool, and Ronnie Moore, who serves as chief scout. Nicky Featherstone, a midfielder, is currently a player-coach.

“Carl will be a fantastic addition to the Club,” stated Sarll. He has skill sets in coaching as well as strength and conditioning, which is something I am eager to address because we need to better meet the physical demands to succeed in this league. He has expertise from the very top of the game to draw from.”
