Paul Onuachu has netted 12 goals in 18 Super Lig matches for the Black Sea Storm this season.
Trabzonspor, the Turkish Super Lig team, is ramping up efforts to secure Nigerian international Paul Onuachu permanently, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
Following a lackluster six-month stint at Southampton from KRC Genk, Onuachu moved to Trabzonspor on a season-long loan from Saint Mary’s Stadium. Since joining the Turkish side, Onuachu has been in stellar form, grabbing headlines with a recent hat-trick, tallying 12 goals in 18 appearances for the Black Sea Storm.
Expressing contentment with Trabzonspor after his standout performance against Gaziantep FK, Onuachu stressed that the ultimate decision lies with Southampton.
However, recent reports suggest a meeting between the Super Eagles forward and Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı.
Initially loaned for 1.5 million Euros during the summer transfer window, Southampton is now contemplating a permanent transfer rather than another loan deal.
Efforts are underway to streamline the transfer process, aiming to facilitate Onuachu’s move to Trabzonspor.
In a bid to sweeten the deal, Trabzonspor is exploring the possibility of offering players to Göztepe, a Turkish club affiliated with Southampton, in exchange.
This approach mirrors successful past transfers, like the one involving Orsic. Last season, Trabzonspor orchestrated Taha Altıkardeş’s transfer to Göztepe, attracting interest from prominent European clubs like Anderlecht and Feyenoord.
