The highest-paid college football coach is currently a top SEC head coach.

According to Seth Emerson of The Athletic, Kirby Smart, the head coach of Georgia football, has been given a two-year extension, making him the highest-paid coach in college football once again.

 

Smart, who guided the Bulldogs to two of the previous three national titles, is just one win away from a third straight season in the College Football Playoffs. The Bulldogs overcame Florida State in the Orange Bowl but fell short against Alabama in the SEC Championship.

Emerson posted on Twitter, “Kirby Smart is getting a two-year contract extension and a raise that will make him the highest-paid coach in college football once again.” “A $1.75 million increase and a two-year extension through December 2023.” The current yearly pay is $13 million, plus bonuses of up to $1.55 million.
