Referees chief Howard Webb will hold peace talks with Nottingham Forest this week

This week, Nottingham Forest’s owners will have peace talks with referee chief Howard Webb. During the meetings, the club will be shown the VAR tape of their three penalty appeals in Sunday’s contentious loss at Everton.

Forest, who had criticized VAR Stuart Atwell’s selection for the match at Goodison Park on the basis that he is a “Luton fan,” had asked to see the talks between the referee and Atwell earlier this week. The governing organization PGMOL was happy to comply.

According to PGMOL procedure, any club that asks it can access VAR audio. It is believed that Webb intends to play the tapes for Forest during an online meeting this week prior to their next Sunday matchup versus Manchester City.

In addition, Webb will talk with Evangelos Marinakis, a shareholder in Forest, and Sokratis Kominakis, a minority shareholder. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo might also be there, depending on the team’s training schedule.

In October of last year, after Liverpool lost to Tottenham, VAR officials Darren England and Dan Cook failed to overturn an offside decision because they thought Luis Diaz had scored. Forest also requested that the audio of the penalty appeals be made publicly available.
