Hallsville’s Slaten gets first career MLB save in Red Sox win

Former Hallsville Bobcat, Justin Slaten, secured his maiden MLB-career save, rebounding from a tough debut for the Boston Red Sox.

After surrendering the winning hit in his first appearance, the right-hander entered the game against the Seattle Mariners in the seventh inning with two runners on base and Boston leading 5-1.

Slaten managed to escape the inning with a flyout. He then proceeded to retire the side in order for the next two innings, recording one strikeout along the way, to clinch the save. With this victory, Boston now stands at 2-2, occupying third place in the AL East.

Their next match will see them face the Oakland Athletics on Monday, with the game scheduled to commence at 8:40 p.m.
