Steelers reportedly eyeing 1,000-yard receiver from rival team

Heading into the 2024 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers feel extremely comfortable about their quarterback room after acquiring Russell Wilson and making a trade for Justin Fields.

It’s time to make sure Wilson has enough playmakers in Pittsburgh for Arthur Smith’s offense to cook with.

Without a doubt, Pat Freiermuth is the top target, but let’s hope George Pickens can also find his footing. Though Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins took Diontae Johnson’s place after his trade, the Steelers might still use additional depth at wide receiver.

However, the Steelers are still keeping an eye on one former 1,000-yard receiver who is well-known to fans of Pittsburgh’s AFC North opponents.

3 Teams That Should Sign Tyler Boyd

Former Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd, who is currently unsigned in free agency and has received an offer from Pittsburgh, is the player connected to the Steelers. However, it seems like the Steelers have a set price range that they won’t go above.

“The Steelers have not been willing to bump up their offer to free-agent wideout Tyler Boyd, making that signing a longshot. That leaves the draft as the primary avenue to replace Johnson and find a legitimate threat next to Pickens.”

The addition of Boyd, a 29-year-old who just finished with 600 yards in a season despite the Bengals only having Joe Burrow play in 10 games, would provide the Steelers with yet another vetted option. Nevertheless, the front office may be more attracted to the upside of discovering another mid-round or Day 3 gem.
