Premier League settles on decision for Newcastle United and West Ham following Nottingham Forest complaint.

Premier League confirms match officials for Newcastle United vs. West Ham United at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Premier League has announced the match officials for Newcastle United’s upcoming home game against West Ham United this Saturday, with Rob Jones set to referee the match at St James’ Park.

This marks Newcastle’s return to action following the international break. Jones has overseen three Newcastle matches this season, including their recent 1-0 victory over Manchester United in December.

While he has largely avoided controversy, Nottingham Forest lodged a formal complaint earlier in the season over some of Jones’ decisions. Notably, Jones issued a red card to Forest defender Willy Boly in a December match against Bournemouth.

He was also involved in a VAR decision resulting in a red card for Forest’s Joe Worrall in a match against Manchester United in August. Jones previously officiated Eddie Howe’s first game as Newcastle head coach in November 2021, a 3-3 draw against Brentford.

Newcastle has won each of their last five home matches with Jones as the referee. Assisting Jones will be Ian Hussin and Wade Smith, with Darren Bond serving as the fourth official.

David Coote will be responsible for VAR duties, assisted by Eddie Smart. Newcastle currently sits 10th in the Premier League table, while West Ham occupies seventh place, four points ahead, having played an additional game.
