We rank the England players that lost to Brazil since they have one more game before Gareth Southgate selects his 23-man selection for Euro 2024.

England 0-1 Brazil: Ollie Watkins and Ben Chilwell miss big auditions in their positions, but Anthony Gordon impresses on debut | Football News | Sky Sports

Jordan Pickford – 7

saved Vinicius and Lucas Paqueta’s efforts thanks to Walker and the woodwork, but he did make amends by almost missing Rodrygo’s first-half attempt to tip it around the post. unable to stop Endrick’s goal because he denied the 17-year-old with the game’s final kick and made the incredible save against Vinicius in the first place. Still without a doubt number one.

Kyle Walker – 6

had a hamstring injury that limited him to just 19 minutes. Although he prevented a certain Brazil goal by stopping Vinicius’ feeble attempt on the line, the fact that the Brazil talisman beat him in the first place for the one-on-one suggests that he may be losing the useful speed that makes him so effective.

John Stones – 7

Among those who began, the most dependable England defender. is extremely safe with the ball and has more tackle victories than any other England player. Though it is a touch alarming, Vinicius is still among the first names on the team sheet despite the way he ran him off as a No 9.

Harry Maguire – 6

made a poor mistake that gave Rodrygo a clear opportunity to score. Neither his set-piece threat nor his defense there was the most compelling. The pressure is back on the Manchester United player as Lewis Dunk steps in to replace him, with Jarrad Branthwaite and the Brighton center-back observing.

Ben Chilwell – 5

The left-back position is still open! Chilwell was wasteful moving forward, putting ideal chances for crosses and shoots over the bar with inflating them. During the counterattack, Brazil again took advantage of his flank. deserved a chance, and was appropriately taken off for Gomez. This might present a dilemma for Southgate if injured Luke Shaw is unable to play in the Euros.

Declan Rice – 7

An excellent England midfield metronome when it comes to the ball. He had the most touches of any England player on the field, and his cutting forward passes through the lines found players like Bellingham and Gallagher in strong positions. played Vinicius onside to win the match, but that goal was largely the fault of others. Between now and summer, it must be wrapped with cotton wool while not in use.

Conor Gallagher – 6

brilliant in the first half and had superb off-ball and on-ball running. After five seconds, he even pressed Brazil! displayed some lovely flair to give Watkins his big early opportunity, but he seemed somewhat invisible at times, especially after the interval, due to too many misdirected passes moving forward.

Jude Bellingham – 8

calm beginning and expressed his annoyance at an unnecessary and delayed booking. but afterwards showed off his incredible midfield movement in between the lines, almost earning Paqueta two yellow cards. Bellingham is the conduit for everything that is wonderful about England; he could have scored with an outrageous effort in the second half and eventually pulled off due to cramps.

Phil Foden – 7

showed some very lovely touches, had a dangerous cross, and had a few near-misses in the first half. assumed the position of Bellingham in the second half, but remained mostly inactive thereafter. It appears that he is most comfortable on the wing.

Ollie Watkins – 5

Lost the chance. Huge opportunity wasted after eighteen minutes, but rocketed over from inside the box. He only touched the ball 21 times during the game, which is nine times more than Walker, who played for just 19 minutes. That was his sole shot of the contest. You’re up against Belgium, Ivan Toney.

Anthony Gordon – 7

Excellent debut for England. The Newcastle winger didn’t back down after a quiet beginning, going straight at Danilo with some aggressive ball carrying. Bento stopped him from scoring twice in the Brazil goal. Prior to the match, Gareth Southgate expressed his confidence in his ability to perform well, and he did.

Substitutes

Ezri Konsa (on for Walker, 20) – 7

Even though it was a difficult ask for the defender making his England debut, he nevertheless made a vital stop of Rodrygo to prevent Paqueta from hitting the post. didn’t appear out of place at right-back, and Southgate clearly thinks highly of him because he entered the game before Gomez.

Lewis Dunk (on for Maguire, 67) – 5

gave up the ball far too easily for Brazil’s midfield goal to score. It’s unfortunate for the Brighton player, who is among the candidates to exert a little more pressure on Maguire.

Joe Gomez (on for Chilwell, 67) – 6

Not much to do, but much better than Chilwell. appeared well-groomed, making all of his passes, and displaying his versatility by substituting for a left back.

Jarrod Bowen (on for Bellingham 67) – 6

demonstrated excellent footwork on a lovely tumbling run to the right. Although he was hardly involved in one-on-one situations, he was pretty adept at them. But he wasn’t the only one.

Marcus Rashford (on for Gordon, 75) – 5

Had some runs down the left but not an inspiring cameo at all. Outshone by Gordon.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6 (on for Gallagher 75)

made a pretty good spin with Joao Gomes to get the crowd excited. Though he was only given 15 minutes and was surpassed by Endrick in terms of highlight moments at the other end of the field, don’t be shocked if he played a larger part against Belgium.
