The Sky Blues will find it even more difficult to hang onto O’Hare if he plays well against the Red Devils at Wembley.
As Coventry City prepares to play Man United in the FA Cup semi-final, they have an immensely exciting opportunity coming up.
With nine games remaining, the Sky Blues are still in the running for the play-offs, having had another successful league campaign.
Apart from the Championship, though, Coventry has had an incredible FA Cup run, and they are currently getting ready for their Wembley Stadium matchup with the Red Devils.
After winning 6-2 at home against Oxford United in the third round of the FA Cup, they defeated Sheffield United in a rematch in the fourth round.
Coventry hosted National League South team Maidstone United in the fifth round, and Mark Robins’ team advanced to the round of eight with a 5-0 victory. It was at Molineux, where they faced Premier League Wolves, and nobody could have imagined how the match would go. After leading 1-0 at the break, the Sky Blues appeared to be heading for victory until the hosts scored twice in the 83rd and 88th minutes.
Ellis Simms and Haji Wright of Coventry then scored goals in the 97th and 100th minutes of normal time, respectively, to make it 3-2 and send the Sky Blues to Wembley.
Not only was it one of the greatest Coventry games in recent memory, but it also meant they would play Erik Ten Hag’s team in the semifinals.
While it may be an incredibly exciting opportunity, the only slight negative is that all eyes will be on Coventry’s best players, who are likely to receive a lot of interest following all of this success.
Callum O’Hare could spark more interest following Coventry City v Man United
While it may be an incredibly exciting opportunity, the only slight negative is that all eyes will be on Coventry’s best players, who are likely to receive a lot of interest following all of this success.
Following Coventry City vs. Manchester United, Callum O’Hare may draw in more suitors.
Undoubtedly, a Championship team playing in a live FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium will draw a lot of attention to their star player, and in Coventry’s case, that player will be Callum O’Hare.
The 25-year-old is having a great season with the Sky Blues, which has attracted a lot of interest from other teams, who are closely monitoring him. Everton and Fulham, two teams from the Premier League, are reportedly interested parties, in addition to Southampton.
Journalist Tom Collomosse claims that in addition to Burnley and Leicester City, the midfielder is being watched by Scottish powerhouses Celtic and Rangers.
O’Hare obviously has plenty of options ahead of the summer transfer window, and this upcoming FA Cup semi-final against United gives him the perfect platform to shine.
In a game this huge, he would get the attention of many clubs and most likely get the best career move if he played well against one of the major clubs in English football.
Coventry City would really miss out on Callum O’Hare
The Sky Blues may be in for a disastrous situation when O’Hare’s contract ends in the summer because one of their important players is almost certain to depart on a free transfer.
The small playmaker has been a Coventry fixture for the past five seasons, where he has impressed and made appearances at crucial times. He contributed seven goals to his team’s promotion to the Championship in his debut season.
He has been one of the most vital players for the Sky Blues this season, even if he hasn’t always been in the starting lineup because of his recuperation from a serious knee injury.
O’Hare, who scored twice against Sheffield Wednesday and once against Oxford United, has also helped them win the FA Cup.
It would be difficult for Coventry to replace O’Hare because he offers so much offensively, but it is increasingly likely that he will leave in the summer. A good performance against Ten Hag’s vulnerable defense could draw in bigger teams with more financial resources, effectively ending Coventry’s hopes of holding onto O’Hare past the end of the season.
