In light of further uncertainties surrounding Murillo’s future at Nottingham Forest, sources have informed Football Insider that Liverpool has set its sights on a possible deal for the player.
The 21-year-old center back is coveted by Forest, but if they are relegated or have to raise money, they may have to let him go.
As previously reported by Football Insider, Liverpool’s primary goal for the summer transfer window is to buy a left-sided center back.
For the Brazilian, Forest has set an asking price of between £40 and £50 million this summer, but they may have to lower that amount if they run out of money at the end of the campaign.
This week, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team fell into the relegation zone with a four-point Penalty for going against the Profit and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest may reduce its £50 million asking price for the Liverpool player. If Murillo Forest is demoted this season, they may be obliged to have a summer fire sale in order to reduce their payroll, which could result in the departure of five of their finest players.
Murillo is one of the names on Liverpool’s defensive shortlist, so they are monitoring the situation.
Murillo, who joined Forest from Corinthians last summer, has been a notable performer for the team this year.
In the center of Forest’s defense, he has made 27 appearances in all competitions including 23 straight appearances in the league.
Earlier this month, the teenage defender received high praise from Forest manager Nuno, who said, “I think he has all the characteristics to become even better.”
In other news, the Everton and Nottingham Forest points deduction issue has taken a “mindboggling” turn that experts find unbelievable.
