NY Giants Still keen on J.J. McCarthy as Giants’ Management Attends the QB’s Pro Day

On Friday, a sizable crowd attended Michigan Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s pro day.

Sources told NFL Network’s Albert Breer that Josh McCown, the quarterback coach for the Minnesota Vikings, assistant quarterbacks coach Grant Udinski, and Giants associate general manager Brandon Brown and quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney were present.

It’s interesting that both parties were both present. The Minnesota Vikings will select eleventh and twenty-third overall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, while the Giants will own the sixth pick. If New York chose to select McCarthy or another player, they might not be able to hold onto their sixth-round pick.

The New York Giants Attending J.J. McCarthy’s Pro Day Is Not a Surprise At All

It is not surprising that representatives of the Giants front office and coaching staff, as well as some Vikings and other organizations, attended his Pro Day at Michigan; he has been moving up the draft boards. He has long been mentioned as a possible draft pick by New York in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Vikings and the New York Giants appear to be in a race to select him in the draft. It’s also conceivable that the Giants decide not to select him in favor of selecting a wide receiver with the sixth overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft in order to keep improving their football squad.

When it comes to the New York Giants and the NFL Draft, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are by no means are tipping their hands. Additionally, it’s possible that they will take wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. or quarterback Drake Maye with the sixth pick.

In college, J.J. McCarthy won a ton of games. It’s hardly a guarantee that your success in college will translate to the NFL. McCarthy still has a lot of growth ahead of him at just 21 years old. In addition to making the playoffs the previous season, he won the National Championship while playing for Michigan.
