Giving youthful George Earthy his chance to shine in the final 12 minutes of Thursday’s game delighted David Moyes.
The young player has performed admirably for the under-21 team and accepted his chance, later saying that it nearly seemed impossible to have been given the chance.
Meanwhile, Moyes stated that he is a fan of the player and that European football offered him the opportunity to give the young players a chance instead of in the Premier League.
He says he has a genuine future in the sport and that, in his role as manager, he has taken tremendous satisfaction in providing a chance for one or two of the young players.
He continued by saying that it is always an enormous delight to offer a little guy an opportunity but the Premier League has become so tough [because of the] level of the competition.
“We have [English] teams in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League, so to get young players into the level of football [the Premier League is played at] where you think you can trust them and they can meet the standards required is not easy, it’s really tough,” he continued in an interview with www.whufc.com ahead of the Aston Villa match on Sunday.
When George Earthy made his senior debut against Freiburg, I was overjoyed for him. George has been doing fairly well. He is a really gifted football player with a positive mentality, and I have no doubt that he will have a bright future if he continues to work hard”.
