Linus Ullmark’s Final Season with the Boston Bruins Looms.

After the March 8 trade deadline passed, Linus Ullmark expressed relief at remaining with the Boston Bruins, dispelling earlier rumors that the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings were eyeing the 30-year-old goaltender.

Ullmark, along with Jeremy Swayman, has formed one of the league’s top goaltending tandems, playing instrumental roles in the Bruins’ success during what was anticipated to be a transitional season.

The persistent trade rumors surrounding Ullmark since January stem from Swayman’s emergence as the potential full-time starter, making Ullmark a trade asset. Dealing him could yield valuable assets and free up cap space, but no confirmation was provided regarding reported deals with the Los Angeles Kings before the deadline.

General Manager Don Sweeney acknowledged exploring various scenarios but did not delve into specific conversations with Ullmark. Reports suggest that Sweeney may continue discussions in the off-season, with potential challenges arising from Ullmark’s no-trade list, predominantly comprising Western Conference teams.

However, the projected salary cap increase for the 2024-25 season could open avenues for a trade, especially with teams boasting ample cap space.
