Liverpool are said to be interested in signing FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who is uncertain about his future in Catalonia.
The Uruguayan international has emerged as one of Xavi Hernandez’s most important players in recent years, with Araujo captaining the team on several occasions this season.
Araujo, once hailed by Xavi as “one of the best defenders in the world”, conceded four in Barcelona’s 4-2 defeat by Catalan rivals Girona yesterday.
And according to 90 minutes, Liverpool are now eyeing the centre-back, along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
In fact, the 24-year-old would be a great addition to any top Premier League team, especially Liverpool looking for a new defender. And with Araujo now weighing up his options, there is every chance the Reds could now be in contention for the Uruguay international in 2024 should the defender decide to leave Barcelona.

Central defense is a position Liverpool simply need to add to in 2024, either in January or in the summer transfer window, and Araujo is almost the league’s ideal target.
A regular at Barcelona in recent years and an international team-mate of Darwin Nunez, Araujo could be perfect for Liverpool if the Reds make a change at centre-back.
Given Barcelona’s financial situation, the La Liga side could be forced to sell if Liverpool make a convincing bid for the Uruguayan international.
And for Araujo, the prospect of playing for Liverpool could be tempting, with the Premier League becoming more and more attractive to international superstars each season.
