Oklahoma Coach Brent Venables Reveals multiple Good News Ahead of Spring Practice

Brent Venables, the coach of Oklahoma, began the spring practice press conference on Wednesday with some encouraging news. According to Venables, senior safety/linebacker Justin Harrington’s application for a medical hardship season has been approved by the NCAA.

The traditional Red/White Game will be held on April 20 to cap up the Sooners’ spring practice, which begins on Monday. After suffering a knee injury early in the previous season, Harrington, a former junior college All-American who has experience at cornerback, safety, and nickel linebacker, will resume practice this spring.

Earlier in the day, the Venables family shared some positive news that went beyond the football field: After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in June of last year, Julie Venables informed the Oklahoman that she had “zero cancer”. In addition, Venables verified the appointment of Zac Alley as defensive coordinator in addition to a number of other support staff and aides.
