AC Milan’s forward Christian Pulisic allegedly faced death threats following the Rossoneri’s 1-0 victory against Lazio on Friday. ABC News reported that the United States captain became a target of hostile messages from Lazio supporters on social media after the match.
Noah Okafor’s decisive goal concluded a contentious match at the Stadio Olimpico, breaking Milan’s three-game winless streak with a dramatic triumph. However, the spotlight shifted to Christian Pulisic, who became a focal point in the heated encounter. Drawing multiple fouls from Lazio’s Luca Pellegrini, the Italian left-back received a red card just before the hour mark, escalating the frustration for Lazio supporters.
Adding to their woes, Pulisic’s tactical foul on Matteo Guendouzi in second-half stoppage time led to the Frenchman’s furious reaction and subsequent straight red card, reducing Lazio to eight players on the field. The referee, Marco Di Bello, had earlier sent off Adam Marusic.
Pulisic later commemorated the hard-fought victory on Instagram, posting a celebratory picture with his Milan teammates. However, the post triggered an unexpected response – a barrage of death threats aimed at Pulisic.
In the face of this alarming situation, Pulisic found support from an unlikely source, stand-in captain Theo Hernandez. Expressing solidarity with his troubled teammate, Hernandez wrote on Instagram, “Puliiiii, I am your security,” providing much-needed backing for Pulisic amidst the disturbing threats.
