Interest Intensifies In Key Sunderland Star

Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham has attracted the attention of Italian powerhouse Lazio, as reported by Sunderland Nation. The 18-year-old made his move to the Stadium of Light from Birmingham City last summer, for a fee believed to be around £1.5 to £3 million.

Since then, he has become a mainstay in the Black Cats’ lineup, featuring in nearly all of their 30 league games and scoring four goals. Bellingham’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur expressing interest in him.

Additionally, Real Madrid, who signed his brother Jude Bellingham last summer, are also reportedly monitoring his progress closely.

Despite being under contract with Sunderland until 2027 and reportedly enjoying life in the North East, Bellingham is expected to garner significant attention in the upcoming summer transfer window. Lazio’s interest adds another dimension to the potential suitors vying for his signature.

The Serie A club, known for their pursuit of attacker Jack Clarke during the winter transfer window, has shown a keen interest in Bellingham’s services. However, their attempts to secure Clarke were rebuffed by Sunderland, who are holding out for a fee upwards of £20 million.

Lazio’s inquiry for Bellingham during their pursuit of Clarke was met with a similar response, but it’s suggested that they may revisit their interest in the young midfielder in the summer.

As Bellingham continues to attract interest from top clubs, Sunderland faces Plymouth Argyle in their next fixture at the Stadium of Light.

With aspirations of reclaiming a spot in the top six, the Black Cats are currently positioned eighth in the league standings, just one point behind the final play-off spot held by Hull City.
