2 Packers selected in Pro Football Hall of Fame 2024 class

The 2024 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame was revealed at the league’s NFL Honors broadcast.

Together with two senior players, five players from the contemporary era received the necessary number of votes to be admitted into the Hall of Fame. The Green Bay Packers are connected to two of these players: defensive tackle Steve McMichael and outside linebacker Julius Peppers.

Prior to joining the Packers, Peppers, who was selected second overall in the 2002 draft, played for the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers. Peppers was a player with Green Bay from 2014 to 2016, appearing in 48 games with 43 starts. In terms of statistics, he totaled 45 quarterback hits, 25 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, and 103 tackles for the Packers In 2015. He was selected for the Green Bay Pro Bowl as well. After spending three seasons with the Packers, Peppers spent his final two seasons as a player in Carolina.

In contrast to Peppers, McMichael isn’t well-remembered among Green Bay supporters. Before joining the Packers in 1994, McMichael played for the Bears for more than ten years. That was his only season on the team. McMichael had this to say about his tenure in Green Bay, per the Chicago Tribune:

“I helped the Bears beat the Packers every year for 13 years.” I think I whupped their ass. I was no longer good when I went up there on my final leg last year. Thus, I once more thrashed their ass and stole their money”.

McMichael was a five-time All-Pro for the Bears, and his 1985 squad won a Super Bowl. Along with 14 of his 171 career starts, only 2.5 of his 95 career sacks were earned with the Packers.

The 2024 class’s induction date has not yet been announced by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but it is anticipated to occur around the first week of August. The complete list of players who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame is shown below.
