The Ohio State Buckeyes’ 2024 offseason has been a huge success. The Buckeyes have brought in some of the top athletes in the nation in every position, through the recruitment and transfer site. Ohio State was included in Bleacher Report’s ranking of the winners and losers of the 2024 early signing period, with the Scarlet and Gray falling into the former group.
“It became abundantly clear the past month or so that the Ohio State Buckeyes are suck of finishing second to Michigan in the Big Ten, and they are ponying up to take that tiny step back onto the elite rung of the sport,” writer Brad Shepard said. “It has been a strong late signing session for (Ohio state coach Ryan Day) on all fronts.”
Many highly-regarded prospects, including defensive end Eddrick Houston and five-star receiver Jeremiah Smith, have committed to Ohio State through their letters of intent. Shepard, though, concentrated on Julian Sayin, the quarterback, and senior edge Dominic Kirks, the team’s most recent arrivals.
“The biggest splash came when they grabbed the nation’s No. 1-ranked quarterback in the 2024 class, Julian Sayin, from Alabama,” Shepard said. “Oh, by the way, 6’4″, 225-pound Painesville, Ohio, defensive end Dominic Kirks also committed to and signed with his home-state school, flipping from his Washington commitment.”
Day and his coaching staff will utilize this spring to assess which individuals are ready to play right away and which ones might require a little more development before they do.
