Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds beat Bristol City on penalties in FA Cup fourth round replay.
Nottingham Forest progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup as they beat Bristol City on penalties in their fourth round replay at the City Ground. After eight minutes, the Reds had taken the lead thanks to a strong start. The hosts were awarded another corner after Anthony Elanga’s deflected shot forced a stop from Morgan Gibbs-White. Origi applied the finishing touch as Felipe headed the ball towards goal and celebrated as though he had scored with his signature flip.
The lead was temporary. Andy King’s original attempt appeared to be touched by Matt Turner as it rebounded past both posts, but Sam Bell maintained possession and set up Jason Knight to make it 1-1 in the fourteenth minute.
Turner was called upon once or twice before the interval as the visitors kept up their impressive play. However, with additional time approaching, Forest started to press. Neco Williams’ attempt went just past the far post, Origi missed with a drive, and Nuno Tavares’ attempt was saved.
An additional 30 minutes were needed since both teams could not claim the 90 minute victory. Both teams had opportunities to win, but the match ended in a penalty shootout.
The Reds prevailed 5-3 on penalty kicks thanks to goals from Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Williams, Moussa Niakhate, and Taiwo Awoniyi. Turner also made a save against Sam Bell.

Here is Sarah Clapson, a Reds reporter,’s assessment of the Forest players at the City Ground.
Matt Turner: There was a lot of discussion on the American’s save right before City’s equalizer and whether or not he should have performed better overall. made some good stops on the way, though. Score: 7/10.
Gonzalo Montiel: Made a few attempts at goal but aimed for the spectacular. Neither appeared. The last thing Forest wanted was for the Argentine to take a knock, given how stretched out the squad already was. Evaluation: 6/10.
Andrew Omobamidele: Appeared to be at ease in both a back three and a four. In general, fairly stable, even when the Robins exerted force. has shown significant progress since making his club debut in this league last month. Score: 6.5/10.
Felipe: It appeared that Brazil’s famous flip celebration will never be recognized as a legitimate goal in the Garibaldi Cup. Thwarted on this time by Origi applying the finishing touch. Score: 6.5/10.
Moussa Niakhate: Turner wasn’t given much cover for the equalizer by the back line as a whole. executed his penalty brilliantly, which he will have no doubt enjoyed. Score: 6.5/10.
Harry Toffolo: Nuno opted to use wing-backs in his operation, and the defender was fairly steady. When he could, he tried to add a few crosses. Score: 6.5/10.
Cheikhou Kouyate: After getting compassionate leave after his AFCON tournament, the midfield player made an unusual start. did not truly engage with the game. Evaluation: 6/10.
Danilo: The visitors had periods of dominance, but he struggled a little bit with passing and at times the midfield appeared overwhelmed. It will be crucial to find him the ideal role. Evaluation: 6/10.
Morgan Gibbs-White: The hosts were a little flat and a bright spark even in difficult situations. It was frightening to witness him limping during extra time, but he appeared to ignore it. Score: 7/10.
Divock Origi: In just his second game under Nuno, the attacker has a significant opportunity. Scored his goal, which should be a timely confidence boost, but other than that, not much to say. Score: 6.5/10.
Anthony Elanga: There were a few promising moments throughout Forest’s strong first-half performances. Seemed the most likely to produce something, along with Gibbs-White. Score: 7/10.
