Wigan Warriors Unveil Heartfelt Charity Shirt in Tribute to Liam Marshall’s Late Mother
Wigan Warriors have launched a poignant charity third kit for the 2025 season, paying tribute to Liam Marshall’s mother, Debbie, who sadly passed away earlier this year. The club’s thoughtful gesture will see £5 from every shirt sold donated to the Wigan & Leigh Hospice, a local charity that provides vital support and care to those diagnosed with terminal illnesses.
The Wigan & Leigh Hospice holds a special place in the hearts of the Marshall family, as it was there that Debbie spent her final hours. Liam Marshall expressed his gratitude towards the club and the hospice, stating, “My family and I are, and always will be, incredibly grateful and appreciative for everything Wigan did as a club at the beginning of this year with regards to my Mum.”
The charity shirt features a lilac color scheme, matching the Wigan & Leigh Hospice logo, and includes a daisy print on the sleeve, symbolizing the hospice’s emblem. A limited run of 1,500 shirts will be available, with the potential to raise £7,500 for the charity.
Jo Carby, Chief Executive of the Wigan & Leigh Hospice, expressed her gratitude towards Wigan Warriors, stating, “Being chosen as Wigan Warriors’ Charity of the Year for their 2025 season is a big honor, and it’s all the more special knowing the impact our services have had on Liam Marshall and his family.”
Kris Radlinski, Club Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of supporting the Wigan & Leigh Hospice, highlighting the significant impact the charity has had on the local community. Radlinski stated, “Liam is the heartbeat of our club, his spirit and passion uplift us all. We wanted to do something meaningful for him and his family, to help keep his mum’s memory alive in a way that would matter.”
The charity shirt is a testament to Wigan Warriors’ commitment to giving back to their community and supporting a cause that is close to their hearts. By purchasing the charity shirt, fans can contribute to a worthy cause while also paying tribute to Debbie Marshall’s memory.
The Wigan Warriors’ charity third kit is now available for purchase, with all proceeds going towards supporting the invaluable work of the Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
