Ipswich Town fans have experienced a turbulent few years. Before Kieran McKenna’s arrival, the club was struggling in League One. In just over two and a half years, however, the Northern Irish manager has led them to the Premier League.
McKenna’s influence has been transformative, but he’s also had help from a roster of dedicated players, including some who joined on loan.
While many loanees have made a mark, others have struggled. For example, Omari Hutchinson, on loan from Chelsea, was a hit with Ipswich fans, tallying 11 goals and six assists in 50 games. But not all temporary additions found success; Tottenham’s Dane Scarlett struggled for game time, with only 146 minutes in 12 appearances before being recalled.
One standout name from Ipswich’s loan history is Troy Parrott, another Tottenham talent, who joined the club a few years ago. Despite getting 18 appearances with Ipswich, the Irish striker only scored twice. Parrott later found success at MK Dons and Excelsior Rotterdam, which ultimately led to a sale to AZ Alkmaar, where his value surged 123%, from £3 million to £6.7 million. Now, with AZ, he’s already scored eight goals in just 16 appearances.
Though Parrott’s Ipswich stint was far from impressive, his career since then has shown he can be a strong and reliable striker, building his reputation as a scorer.
