Troy Deeney has delivered his verdict on Wrexham’s Premier League chances after back-to-back promotions into League One.
Wrexham are going strong in League One as the project under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds continues to bring results.
Wrexham have lost just twice in 13 League One games this season, winning seven times along the way.
Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Charlton Athletic was a disappointment as Wrexham conceded a late penalty to draw the game.
Even Charlton players are backing Wrexham to be in the promotion race though and few would be shocked by a third promotion in a row.
Troy Deeney on Wrexham hopes
Wrexham have already been on an incredible journey under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, but there could be even more to come.
Reynolds wants another promotion this season, and if Wrexham do get to the championship, it’s hard to imagine the Hollywood duo settling there.
Wrexham would love to go all the way into the Premier League, and fans are no doubt dreaming of top-flight football one day.
Not everybody is quite so enamoured with the Wrexham project though and former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has offered his verdict.
CBS Sports have asked pundits Deeney, Nigel Reo-Coker and Mike Grella just how long it will take for Wrexham to reach the Premier League.
Reo-Coker went with three to four years whilst Grella suggested that Wrexham will need around five years to reach the top flight.
Deeney isn’t convinced though and simply stated ‘never’ when asked when Wrexham will be promoted to the Premier League.

Why not Wrexham?
Former Watford striker Deeney clearly isn’t convinced but Wrexham have just as good of a chance as anybody else.
The likes of Burnley, Blackpool, Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton and Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town, Hull City, Luton Town and Swansea City have all reached the top flight in recent memory.
Those clubs progressed through the leagues and some have even managed to enjoy long spells in the top flight.
That is the journey Wrexham want to be on and with Hollywood backing, the dream isn’t all that outrageous.
It will take hard work and exceptional recruitment but Wrexham are moving in the right direction and, crucially, showing no sign of slowing down.
