DONE DEAL: Atlanta Braves Signs deal with Infielder, Sanchez

Francys Romero of MLB.com reports that Sanchez signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Saturday.

Once considered one of the White Sox’s best prospects, Sanchez has struggled to make an impression since moving up to Triple-A in 2022. With Chicago’s Triple-A affiliate, the 26-year-old infielder slashed.271/.321/.333 with 40 RBI in 445 plate appearances last season.

After being declared a free agent in February 2019, the former Luis Robert teammate of the Cuban 18 team, signed a $2.5 million contract with the White Sox in 2019. However, he chose to play with the Red Sox, so he waited until July to sign. At the age of 24, Sanchez made his professional debut after being unable to participate in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sanchez has a good bat-to-ball skills which allows him hit a high average but, has limited power and does not take enough walks which, lowers his offensive value.

It is likely that he will return to Triple-A Gwinnet to start the 2024 season.
