Richard Keys shares his take on the City Ground controversy in the latest Nottingham Forest update from NottinghamshireLive.
Richard Keys has slammed the penalty decision in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 loss to Fulham, criticizing the refereeing standards.
The game turned on a controversial moment when Forest defender Murillo was judged to have fouled Andreas Pereira, leading to a penalty. Raul Jimenez converted, and Forest were left frustrated after a VAR review. Referee Josh Smith overturned his initial decision and awarded the spot-kick.
Keys, expressing his frustration on his blog, wrote, “I completely sympathize with Forest. The standard of refereeing is ruining the game. That penalty was a joke. Whatever happened to letting the referee’s call stand?”
Forest boss Nuno expressed his disappointment post-match, saying, “We don’t want to talk about referees, but today wasn’t their best day. We didn’t play well either, but the decisions didn’t help.”
Nuno added that refereeing standards must improve, just as his team needs to.
