Maxence Lacroix believes Crystal Palace will keep getting better as the matches come in quick succession.
Maxence Lacroix, the new centre-back for Crystal Palace, recently joined from VfL Wolfsburg on a five-year deal. He played a crucial role in helping his team secure their first clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Selhurst Park.
In just his third appearance for the Eagles, Lacroix made an impressive impact, recording six clearances—tied for the highest on the pitch with captain Marc Guéhi. He also led the team with three aerial duels won and made two interceptions.
Despite Palace still searching for their first Premier League win, Lacroix is optimistic. He believes that as the players become more familiar with each other’s styles, their performance will improve. “We showed great character in the second half,” he told Canal+ after the match. “We had good chances to score and earn points, especially at home against a strong Manchester United side.”
Lacroix acknowledged the need for adaptation, saying, “I’m new to the team, and we need to learn to tackle challenges, but I think it’s going to get better. We played much better in the second half, which created more opportunities.”
He praised the squad’s overall quality, noting that they have talent both in attack and defense. “We’ll be dangerous. We knew we might not control the game against Manchester United, but we needed to be aggressive in transition.”
Looking ahead, Lacroix aims to secure three points when Palace face Everton, who are also winless this season. “We create chances but need to improve in the final third,” he stated. “We have to go there with the aim of getting the three points and kickstarting our season.”
