Ramsdale, who has already proven his capabilities with Arsenal and Sheffield United in the Premier League, fits the bill perfectly.
While Southampton may not be in the same position as Arsenal, Ramsdale understands the goals and expectations at St. Mary’s Stadium this season. The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the league’s top goalkeepers when it comes to making crucial saves and keeping clean sheets. In his Southampton debut, Ramsdale made three vital saves, but two defensive errors led to Brentford scoring twice, giving them the momentum to secure a win.
Manager Russell Martin recently shared his thoughts on Ramsdale’s debut, stating, “I think he’s brilliant with the ball. Some of the passes he picked out today were fantastic. So, I think he’s going to be a brilliant signing for us. He gives us experience in the Premier League, which we don’t have a huge amount of.”
With limited Premier League experience in the squad aside from players like Jan Bednarek, Kyle Walker-Peters, and Adam Lallana, Southampton have struggled against top-flight teams. The addition of Ramsdale is expected to provide a much-needed boost in the coming matches. Moreover, Southampton must focus on creating chances from their midfield rather than relying on a build-up play from the back, which has led to several misplaced passes and goals conceded.
