Information Roams that Ryan Reynolds’ favourite Wrexham player get’s saved ‘from getting battered’ in tunnel

Wrexham hero Paul Mullin was saved “from getting battered” in the tunnel by one of his team-mates after clashing with a Reading player on his return to action following injury

Wrexham hero and Ryan Reynolds’ favourite, Paul Mullin, was saved “from getting battered” in the tunnel by James McClean after returning for Wrexham against Reading.

The 29-year-old striker joined then-non-league Wrexham in 2021 having fired Cambridge United to promotion to League One – scoring 32 times in the league. Mullin’s move signalled the intent of Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Wrexham, convincing the marksman to drop two levels and join the National League team the following campaign.

Mullin and Reynolds struck up a brilliant relationship and the striker even made a cameo in Reynolds’ latest Deadpool & Wolverine film. The Hollywood star saw Mullin back in action after he missed the Red Dragons’ opening League One games with injury, but his return on Saturday almost brought fireworks.

Phil Parkinson reintroduced Mullin back to the action with Wrexham 3-0 up at home against Reading as the Welsh side extended their unbeaten start to the season. Whilst Mullin was unable to add to the scoreline, he did mark his appearance showing he hasn’t lost the fire during his injury absence.

A picture was shared on social media appearing to show Mullin telling a Reading player “he will be waiting in the tunnel” for him after clashing with Amado Mbengue. The incident saw former Premier League winger McClean star in an unfamiliar role as peacemaker, with the Wrexham captain so often seen down the years in the middle of feisty altercations.

After the game, McClean shared a picture on his Instagram of him and Mullin laughing during the game and adding the caption: “@paulmullin12 saving you from getting battered bud.” Mullin replied “thanks mate” with a crying-laughing face emoji and the blowing a kiss emoji. McClean joined Wrexham from Wigan Athletic last summer and has captained the team in their first three league games this season.
