Tyrick Mitchell has urged Crystal Palace fans to show their best support during the team’s first home match of the season.
After a narrow defeat at Brentford on the opening day, Crystal Palace will host West Ham United in their first home match of the 2024/25 season on Saturday afternoon.
Last season, the Selhurst Park crowd was instrumental in Palace’s success, with the team winning their final four home Premier League games by an impressive 16-2 aggregate, including a 5-2 victory over West Ham in April.
Tyrick Mitchell has called on the supporters to maintain their usual enthusiastic support. “I’d say just be as loud and cheerful as they usually are,” Mitchell told Premier League Productions. “Their energy really boosts us and helps us win games. When they’re behind us, we perform better. Playing at home in a London derby is a significant advantage, and we hope to kickstart our season with a win.”
Mitchell, who featured in 37 of Palace’s 38 Premier League games last season, aims to replicate that level of consistency. “It gives you more confidence,” he said. “Although the Premier League is always changing, feeling familiar with it helps you feel more settled. Each game is different, but having experience makes you a bit more comfortable. I focus on taking it game by game, and if we perform well, we’ll naturally climb the table.”
