Fabrizio Romano reports Nottingham Forest targeting a ‘superstar’ even after locking in Eddie Nketiah’s terms.

Nottingham Forest has just one week left to wrap up their summer transfer deals.

It’s been an incredibly productive summer for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, with Nottingham Forest making eight new signings. Among the latest additions, Forest secured Alex Moreno on a season-long loan from Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

In their season opener against Bournemouth, the Reds managed to put a point on the board. Interestingly, none of their summer signings started the game, with Nikola Milenkovic absent for a specific reason. However, it seems there could be more signings on the horizon as Evangelos Marinakis and Ross Wilson continue their work at the City Ground.

Despite Chris Wood scoring over the weekend, securing a new striker remains a key priority for Forest as the transfer window enters its final week. The club has agreed on personal terms with Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, but that hasn’t stopped them from exploring other options.

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Forest’s search for a new striker, noting that, with time running out, the club is still pursuing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, despite the Nketiah links. Romano revealed that Forest’s bid of €26 million plus add-ons for Gimenez was rejected by Feyenoord.

“With Nketiah, we know Nottingham Forest are interested. However, Forest have also shown an interest in Santiago Gimenez – their bid has been rejected by Feyenoord; €26m plus add-ons was still not enough,” Romano shared in his Daily Briefing. “Forest have advanced in talks with Arsenal and Nketiah, as he’s accepted the contract proposal. Forest remain attentive to Gimenez’s situation, but as of last night, Nketiah is the favorite striker option for them.”

With just a week left in the transfer window, Forest faces a crucial decision on which striker to pursue. Nketiah brings Premier League experience, albeit with limited recent playing time, while Gimenez, though lacking Premier League experience, has been in excellent form for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.

It’s an intriguing dilemma for Nuno’s side, but they must be careful not to let time slip away as the clock ticks down.
