29 times in the Sevilla match, Ramos was knocked out.

Sevilla lost 2-1 at Real Sociedad, and Sergio Ramos was sent off for the 29th time in his career.

In the 88th minute, the former Real Madrid and Spain defender was sent off for a sliding tackle on Brais Mendez.

The 37-year-old now holds the record for the most red cards in La Liga history with his dismissal on Sunday, at 21.

Jesus Navas, 38, a winger for Sevilla, was dismissed for the first time in his career during a La Liga match after he objected to the call.

More than any other player in the twenty-first century, Ramos has been sent off twenty-one times, more than Rafael Marquez and combined.

After receiving a second  yellow card,  which the referee  changed to  a straight red  after seeing  his  pitchside  monitor, he  was booked  on  minute  eighty-two and  sent off  six  minutes  later. Marko  Dmitrovic,  the  goalkeeper  for Sevilla,  gave Real  Sociedad the  lead early  on with an  own goal,  and Umar  Sadiq then  scored a fantastic  goal from  25 yards out. Youssef  En-Nesyri  nearly  equalized  by hammering  a shot  against  the post,  but the Morocco  forward was  able to pull  one back with  a deflected  header.

Then,  following  his summertime  return to his  hometown  team,  Ramos  received  his first  red  card.

After seven  league  games  without  a victory,  Sevilla  dropped  to 15th  place  in the  standings,  while the  home  team  rose to  fifth.
