23/24 AWARD WINNERS FOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Hibernian FC has announced Jordan Obita as their 2023–24 Player of the Year!

Supporters of Hibernian FC voted for the left-back, who defeated Joe Newell, the champion from the previous year, to take first place. This season, Jordan has emerged as the Hibees’ star player, putting up fantastic performances down the left side. Obita has scored two goals this season, including a memorable one against Luzern at Easter Road in the UEFA Europa Conference League, in addition to playing strong defense.

As the 30-year-old accepted the Men’s Player of the Year Award, his colleagues took notice of his performances as well. Nathan Moriah-Welsh, who won Men’s Young Player of the Year, also had a great night. His admirers have been pleased since he switched in January. However, Emiliano Marcondes’ incredible free goal against St Johnstone in April earned him the title of Goal of the Season.

Leah Eddie won Women’s Player of the Year for the Women’s team, and Lia Tweedie won Goal of the Season for her outstanding performance against Hearts at Meadowbank. Joelle Murray, who took the painful decision to retire from women’s football this summer, received the Special Recognition award. Joelle has played over 500 games for Hibs Women and has been a trailblazer in women’s football.

Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson, two Club mainstays, both received special awards on the evening in honor of their illustrious Hibs careers. Additionally, Rory Whittaker received recognition as the Academy Player of the Year. When he entered the game against St Johnstone in February, the 16-year-old became the Club’s youngest-ever player. During the 2023–24 season, he made 14 appearances for the First Team.
