Carlos Miguel, the custodian, will soon be joined by another player for Nottingham Forest. The 6-foot-7-inch goalkeeper’s £3.4 million release clause was fulfilled over the weekend, and he will now head to Forest for negotiations.
Yesterday, Miguel played for Corinthians, and the Brazilian media gave him some credit for a strong showing. It appears that Forest is now stepping up its efforts to attract new players, and the City Ground may soon welcome a new midfield player. Marko Stamenic is expected to sign with Forest soon, but he won’t visit the City Ground right away. After Forest completes a £4.6 million transfer, it is rumoured that the Red Star Belgrade player would first spend the entire season on loan at Olympiacos. In recent weeks, Stamenic’s transfer to Coventry was speculated about, but it appears that Forest has moved ahead of them.
After agreeing to terms with Forest, the athlete will travel to Greece to join the victorious UEFA Conference League team. Although Stamenic usually plays as a holding midfielder, he can also play more forward, as shown in the 2023–2024 season. In 35 games throughout the course of the previous season, he has scored twice, collected one assist, and received seven cautions while playing for Red Star. Along with Chris Wood of Forest, the 22-year-old is a New Zealand international who has made 15 appearances for his country.
Stamenic began his football career in New Zealand’s lower leagues before being selected by FC Copenhagen in 2020. He advanced through the Danish divisions and played on loan for HB Koge for a while. Red Star Belgrade signed him in July 2023 after Copenhagen declined to extend his contract. Forest-related Stamenic played in just 23 games for the Danish powerhouses, but he appeared in 35 games for Red Star.
Naturally, Forest and Olympiacos will continue to do these kinds of transactions in the future. It’s obvious that Olympiacos can benefit from Forest purchasing players and then loaning them to them, according to Evangelos Marinakis. The supporters will now want Forest to handle their own business, and the club doesn’t want to get entangled in too many of these transactions. In all honesty, Miguel appears to be a solid addition, and Stamenic appears to be a player with room to grow. It is obvious that Coventry has been a sought-after player since in recent weeks, it appeared that the Kiwi was almost signed. When Stamenic returns to Forest, the task will be to play in a respectable league in Greece.
